US stocks opened lower Thursday, as investors struggled with protracted economic weakness due to the outbreak of the Corona virus, as well as pressure from the risk of a new trade war between the United States and China.

The Dow Jones industrial average fell 198.91 points, or 0.86 percent, to 23049.06 points, and the S&P 500 index fell 28.49 points or 1.01 percent to 2791.51 points, and the Nasdaq Composite Index fell 75.12 points, or 0.85 percent to 8788.04 points.
